Hot hair trend for Fall 2012.
By Carla Snuggs
I am beyond fixated with top knots! Why? Because a top knot hairstyle is so simple to achieve and it is a fun, chic hairstyle that makes a statement. In fact, Harper’s Bazaar recently featured an article on the rise of the “fun bun”. The top knot is a fall hairstyle that you can rock with every fashion style. We’ve seen gorgeous top knots on celebrities such as Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, and Gwen Stefani that complement each of their boho, glam and rocker fashion styles.

A top knot is a very versatile hairstyle because you can wear it no matter your hair type — even if you have bangs. If you have short hair, you can quickly add a few wefts of faux hair to achieve the look.
How To: Top Knot Hairstyle
First, give your hair a light misting with aerosol hairspray. Put the hair up in a high ponytail. Gently pull on the sides of the ponytail to extend the base. Use a comb to tease the ponytail. Wrap, twist or braid the hair around the base of the pony tail and then secure with bobby pins or a hair tie. Spray a soft bristle brush with a little more hairspray and then brush to smooth out any frizzy hair. And there you have it – a chic top knot or high messy bun.
