Mercedes Benz Fashion Week hair tutorial

The hair and makeup during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2012, has been amazing so far. I loved the braided looks at the Hervé Léger Spring 2013 show and the bold hair at the Ruffian Spring 2013 show. I was especially impressed by the hair in the Houghton Spring 2013 show, not to mention how they worked that scouse brow. The hair looked truly effortless and easy-breezy, yet it was flawless. L’Oréal Professionnel Session Stylist, Laura Polko, created the hairstyles for the Houghton Spring 2013 presentation at #NYFW.

The Houghton collection, designed by Katharine Poilk, was very feminine with exquisite lace and pretty floral prints.  To complement the Spring 2013 Houghton collection, Polko created hairstyles that were both youthful and vibrant. “To add a younger vibe, I went for sexy beachy waves and an unstructured bun pinned high up on the head,” said Polko.  Here are the two gorgeous Polko runway hairstyles and easy tips to recreate them.

Sexy Beach Waves

Get casual, sexy hair in a few simple steps. First, prep the hair with L’Oréal Professionnel Mousse Volupté ($19) and twist the strands with a curling iron. Alternate bending the hair to create a more substantial wave.

Crisp Bun

For the crisp bun, Polk rubbed the the crown gently rubbed with the palms of the hands to create natural-looking texture.  Next, brush hair back and gloss it with L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Rich Oil ($32) for intense shine. Next, create a circular pin shape and gently pull it apart with the fingers for a softer look.
