A unique take on the salon’s Signature Pedicure, Salon AKS in New York offers clients a new way to look and feel their best with the new leg tanning St. Tropez Pedicure. The service takes place in Salon AKS’ custom-designed pedicure sinks that are made of copper, a natural element, known for its healing properties such as increased energy and blood flow, so it’s perfect for summer.

Using St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse, the leading luxury self- tanner, to provide a healthy, natural, bronzed glow that enhances all skin tones, this pedicure improves legs’ luminosity and delivers an ultra-even tan. St. Tropez products contain a patented Aromagaurd technology that masks the smell of self tanner up to 70%. The oil-free formula dries in just seconds and does not rub off or stain your clothing.

First, the technicians exfoliates the legs and then applies the St. Tropez Self Tan Optimizer Body Moisturizer with a special focus on your knees, ankles and dry spots so these areas don’t get too dark. Then, using the mitt applicator, the bronzing mouse is applied in a downward motion to ensure evenly-tanned, streak-free legs. The Gold Skin Illuminator is then applied as the final  touch to add a glowing dimension to the tan.

High Heeler Treatment, Spa at Mohonk Mountain House

In the summer, women (and men!) wear more open-toe shoes, sandals and flip flops to both show off their feet and let them breathe more, so common foot complaints come from this type of footwear and the natural swelling and sweating of the feet that comes with summer heat.

Susie Ellis, President, SpaFinder Wellness, Inc. explains that issues with feet due to summer heat can range from cracked heels to corns and calluses and worse. People with the minor issues associated with tired, sore feet can benefit from this type of treatment. High-fashion women, often in cities, who suffer in stilettos, as well as those who wear constricting footwear, unsupportive ballet flats and flip-flops on a daily basis, would benefit as well.

The “High Heeler” treatment at the Spa at Monhonk Mountain House in New York is the perfect remedy for dry, cracked feet. The High Heeler treatment begins with a peppermint-based scrub to exfoliate the calves and the feet.  The spa guest receives a massage that involves pressure points and stretching of the feet and calves that lasts about 35 minutes. The High Heeler treatment is great for the heels, feet and overall musculature of the feet and calves.

B Custom Couture, Privé Salon

B Spa Bar’s anti-aging facial. B Spa Bar, located in the Privé Salon at the Soho Grand Hotel, is now providing an innovative and indulgent facial called the B Custom Couture that utilizes the power of LED light therapy to combat aging and help keep skin healthy all summer long.  The B Custom Couture facial is perfect for sensitive skin, sun-damaged, dry, dehydrated skin or mature and stressed skin. The facial is ideal for almost everyone since it is customized for each individual guest.  When you get the B Custom Couture they will order a separate facial kit which includes your own personal peel, serums, activating solutions, complexes, masks and creams.

Founder and President of B Spa Bar, Diana Seo, breaks down the procedure step by step:

“After cleansing the skin thoroughly, uses her custom Piori® dermal peel to remove the dead cell layers effectively. This peel is designed to deeply exfoliate the skin and increase its natural ability to hold moisture. Then I analyze the skin under the magnifying lamp while face mapping (pinpointing what ingredients to use for the three different areas). Some areas might need a brightening serum for the hyperpigmentation and other areas might need a soother repair complex for the redness and dilated capillaries. Next, I administer either the ANSR: BEAM or ANSR: HALO depending on the clients’ needs. The LED light therapy is used for either clogged pores, blemishes, wrinkles, lines and uneven texture and tone.

I then customize a unique 7-layer mask which includes ingredients that are free from parabens and artificial fragrances. They include organic aloe, a chocolate Ayurvedic Tamarind herbal mask, anti-aging pomegranate/mangosteen cream with Ginger and Ginko, Priori’s Replenishing mask with pro vitamins, lactic compounds, grapefruit extracts, DNA Caviar, New Zealand stem cells, Primrose oil, Avocado oil, wheatgerm, green tea, etc.  Before I remove the mask I use the ANSR: BEAM or ANSR: HALO for additional LED light therapy, if necessary. The ultimate designer facial helps skin become visibly smoother, firmer, younger looking and brighter.”
