Look Fabulous for Labor Day!

HOORAY working women of America. Labor Day is here and it’s yet another holiday that most of us will celebrate outdoors. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about that at all, I’m just pointing out the obvious. Ladies, we all know how tough it is to be on a boat, at the pool, or at a BBQ all day long and still feel like we need to look fabulous. That’s right, all your friends will be there and maybe even that cute man you’ve been eyeingBut what about the 100 degree heat, the humidity, the rain? Who invited those guys?! I’ve decided to share with you a few tricks to looking fabulous regardless of the celebratory situation you might find yourselves in!

Hair:  Don’t be afraid to fix it first and then adjust it later; just make sure you bring the necessary remedies! TIPS:

  • A casual braid is always cute!
  • Bring a ponytail holder and transform a messy 'do into a fun bun in seconds!
  • Bobby pins can create a quick pinned back look.  Simply twist a few strands of your hair together and secure.
  • Chic headbands sweep hair out of your face with style.
  • Hats are the perfect accessory! Make sure to toss one in your bag that coordinates with your swimsuit or outfit.

Make-Up: The key to outdoor makeup is not to overdue it. The natural light outside shows tone differences that may not be as obvious indoors. TIPS:

  • When applying foundation, use a cotton ball to ensure it is smoothed out evenly. The key is to blend so the makeup is even with your skin tone all over.
  • Brush on a powder over the foundation. The powder will keep your skin from looking glossy and seal the foundation.
  • Lightly brush bronzer or a pink blush on your cheeks to make you look sun kissed.
  • Be sure to use waterproof mascara.
  • Last but not least, apply a nude or clear lip gloss.

Never Party Outdoors Without: There are a few items you can toss in a bag for the unexpected. These little must-haves may save you a holiday headache! TIPS:

  • Umbrella - you never know when the rain will show up uninvited.
  • Bug Spray - a little mist can keep the pests away!
  • Sunscreens - sunburns can ruin a day outside. Don’t be a victim.
  • High heels - I know it sounds crazy, but you never know when a backyard BBQ or day at the pool will turn into a night on the town. Carrying a pair of heels in your bag will turn up the heat of an ordinary outfit.

Schools Have Banned 'Boobies'

You heard correctly. Middle schools and high schools in South Dakota and central and northern California have started threatening the students who sport the "I heart boobies" bracelets with suspension, citing the language is offensive.

Students have also been asked to remove the bracelets. The bracelets are produced by the non-profit organization, Keep A Breast Foundation. One school district in California is claiming that the bracelets violate the school's dress code because of its 'sexually suggestive language.' The director of communications for the Clovis Unified School District had this to say: "That is why jewelry with sexually suggestive language like 'boobies' is not allowed on our campuses,” wrote Kelly Avants. “Please understand that the issue is related specifically to the choice of language on these bracelets and the fact that it specifically violates our existing dress code policy.”

I don't know how you feel about it, but I think anything that supports and donates to a cause, like breast cancer, should be allowed. I definitely don't think the language is offensive, and these kids should not be punished for supporting something so great.

Leader in the Face Biz, Maybelline Looks to Expand Drugstore Lines

Maybelline New York is ranked as the leader in cosmetics for the four-week period ending August 10. The new Instant Age Rewind The Eraser foundation is the best-selling new foundation (according to sales-tracking company SymphonyIRI).

Maybelline Fit Me

Jumping on what industry types call "face" success, Maybelline is launching Fit Me, a new four-product face line in sleek packaging. The idea is to create a whole look with a foundation, a powder, a concealer, and a blush--all numbered, so you know what goes together. Three bronzers help complete the finished look.

Ali Goldstein, vice president of U.S. marketing for Maybelline New York, told WWD, “For us, Maybelline already has a solid face business, but we needed to recognize the shade true segment of foundation. Our research tells us that ‘the right shade for me’ and ‘needs to look natural on my skin’ remain very important to the 1,000 women we spoke to. That was a big learning — and the inspiration for the Fit Me launch.”

Fit Me foundation has an SPF 18. Both the foundation and powder are available in 18 shades for $7.99. The concealer ($6.49) is available in six shades, while the blush ($5.51) comes in 12 shades.

Industry sources estimate Fit Me could generate as much as $70 million in first-year retail sales.

Are you looking for a new face routine? Would you trust a drugstore brand with your precious face?

Review of Meaningful Beauty's Purifying Deep Cleansing Masque

I’m a huge fan of facial masques. I use one every Sunday evening to clear away anything and everything from the previous week to start Monday anew. This was a definite must when I came home recently from visiting a friend at the beach for a weekend. I needed something that would clear away the grime I felt on my face from the water, sun, humidity, and hours of travel.

I first selected Meaningful Beauty’s Purifying Deep Cleansing Masque to review because of the product's reputation, which is always important when trying something new. Not only is the Meaningful Beauty Skin Care line supported by Cindy Crawford; but it was created by world-renowned dermatologist, Dr. Sebagh, who is known for treating the brightest celebs around the globe. The product also promised to purify, deep cleanse, and revive stressed out skin with its infusion of antioxidants and marine botanical. I knew it was just what I was going to need.

Within minutes of applying the masque, I could feel the impurities and dirt being lifted from my pores. Like most masques, Meaningful Beauty’s Purifying Deep Cleansing Masque tightens when drying which allows it to pull from the deepest layers of skin. The instructions stated to let sit for 15-20 minutes and since I have very sensitive skin, I rinsed the masque with warm water after 15. My skin immediately looked and felt smooth and revived. I didn’t even wear makeup to work the next day!

Meaningful Beauty’s Purifying Deep Cleansing Masque is part of the complete anti-aging system comprised of five main steps and products and costs $39.95. Not only does this line work, but it’s a great price as well.

Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Husband Wants to Plastinate Her!

I’m sure most of you know about Body Worlds. It’s the world traveling exhibit by Gunther von Hagens that displays plastinated human bodies with the muscles and tendons intact. Body Worlds is considered to be very controversial … but from my point of view, it was extremely interesting and I learned a LOT about the human body.

I digress. Zsa Zsa’s husband, Prince Frederick von Anhalt, wants to plastinate her body after she dies. He says, "My wife has always dreamt that her beauty would be immortal. I would like to show the plastinated body of Zsa Zsa Gabor in the context of a scene in one of her films."

He wants the famous German anatomist Hagens to carry out the procedure. I don’t know how I feel about being able to see a plastinated Gabor. The reason Body Worlds is so popular is because the bodies are totally unrecognizable. Seeing her dead body, yet looking perfectly preserved and wax-like, seems like a bad dream.

Happy Healthy Hearts

Listen up girls. We spend the majority of our lives trying to protect our little hearts, and we should. But I’m not just talking about protecting our hearts from men; I’m talking about how we can protect the health of our hearts everyday. Simple foods in our diet can add to our heart health -- Oh, and did I mention -- they are foods that you will totally LOVE! Here are a few heart healthy foods:

Cocoa and Dark Chocolate: I know, who can believe this one? The flavonals contained in the cocoa bean have been linked to lowering blood pressure.

Nuts: Fats contained in nuts, such as mono and polyunsaturated fats, have been linked in studies to lowering the risk for heart disease.

Seafood: Essential fats like omega-3 fatty acids are contained in fish and shellfish and help to reduce the risk of heart attack by promoting healthy blood flow.

Red Wine: Rather than stick together like grapes in a bunch, studies have shown that the phytonutrients in wine promotes blood platelet separation.

So cheers and bon appetit to a heart healthy diet!
