Fashion Fail: The Academy of Country Music Awards

The ACM Award’s red carpet was less than impressive

By: Kristen Adams

Sunday, April 7th marked the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards and unfortunately, the worst red carpet of the season. Between unflattering gowns and downright casual get-ups, country music stars just weren’t on their game. We understand that the country music scene has a slightly different vibe than the mainstream crowd, but dressing for your figure and slipping into something a little nicer than normal for the red carpet, doesn’t require a lot of flash.

Before we dish on the worst looks of the night, we thought we should share our favorite.

True Blood actress, Ashely Jones, stunned at the ACM Awards in a cobalt blue chiffon Pamella Roland gown. The cut of the dress complimented Jones’ figure beautifully and kept the dress feeling classic, while the bright color was busy making a statement.  She kept it simple and chic with a Swarvoski clutch.

Now let’s check out some of the looks that weren’t as successful as Ashley Jones.

Country couple Rory Lee and Joey Martin Feek, of Joey + Rory, must not have gotten the memo that the red carpet is a formal event. Cowboy boots? Acceptable due to the nature of the event. Man overalls? Never okay.

Danielle Peck had the right idea with yellow, but this gown translated more into a big bird feel than fashion forward. The kleenex mountain at the bottom of her gown is overwhelming and makes us wonder how she managed to walk around.

Not to be harsh, but Shania Twain was the biggest fashion flop of the night. This was surprising because Shania has been in the business for years!  We thought she knew better than to rock a dress with a tail and pair it with thigh-high boots. Tisk, tisk.
