Barre3 Exercise DVD

Product Review: Barre3 Exercise DVD
by Lyssa

I've heard a lot about Barre3—Madonna loves her Barre3 workouts: combining ballet, pilates, and yoga into a quick-and-easy total body toning workout. If workout-crazy Madge loves creator Sadie Lincoln, you probably should too. All you need is the DVD, a chair, and optional ball or towel.

I’ve tried just about every kind of workout there is, but DVDs have never been my torture of choice. I like high-intensity, I feel-like-I’m-going-to-die workouts (like CrossFit), and DVDs don’t usually give you that. But, I like my yoga too. This DVD was more of a toning workout than high intensity, but it was still sweat-inducing and fun. It’s super easy to set up your space, you don’t need a lot of room. The workout is only 30 minutes, so it’s easy to knock out while dinner cooks or between work and happy hour.Lyssa doing Barre3

The first portion of the Barre3 DVD, the leg portion, was my fave—I liked it so much that when I had only ten minutes to work out one day, I popped the DVD in just to do the leg part! It has some unique ballet-plus-yoga combos like plie-style squatting calf raises into chair pose. It’s tough! The abs portion is good too, incorporating the Pilates 100 and some exercise ball use.

If you like ballet, pilates, or yoga, you’ll love this interesting and unique combo of the three disciplines.
