My hair is naturally curly, so when I want to wear it straight, my wavy locks are unfortunately subjected to the harsh heat of my flat iron. When I straighten my hair, I always end up feeling bad for it, as I know the constant heat from the iron and blow dryer combined with the frequent pulling, smashing, and clamping cannot be good for it. That said, my hair is also naturally oily, so even though I suffer from these feelings of guilt, I do not put any sort of product in my hair when straightening it (I don't even use conditioner) so as to avoid any excess of oil. Needless to say, I do have a hair conundrum. I decided to try Neuma Beauty's Blow Dry Lotion to see if I could find a product that could help smooth my hair (in essence protecting it from the heat) but not leave my hair feeling greasy.
While the Neuma Beauty Blow Dry Lotion does not feel heavy in my hand when applying it, I can say that after blow drying and straightening my hair, I definitely felt like there was product in it. This could be because it actually just has that effect, or it could be because I am just not used to ever using any product on my hair at all--I'm not sure. I did not expect the Neuma Beauty Blow Dry Lotion to cause my hair to take longer to dry than usual; that was something I did not like.
After straightening my hair, I can say that my hair really does feel smooth. In that sense, I am okay with the fact that it may feel like I can tell there is a little bit of product on my hair, because the finished product is smooth and silky. I do think my hair got a little oilier quicker than usual, which I was completely prepared for (like I said, that's why I don't use any product on my hair whatsoever).
The Neuma Beauty Blow Dry Lotion is a good, lightweight smoothing lotion for those of you who blow dry and straighten your hair frequently. I wouldn't say I'm in love with it, but for someone who has particularly dry hair, it could definitely be useful.
